Vienna – Captial of Austria
Vienna, the capital of Austria, is located in the east of the country on the Danube. Around 3 million people live in the Vienna metropolitan area, which corresponds to around a third of the total Austrian population.
Vienna’s artistic and intellectual heritage has been shaped by residents such as Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its imperial palaces such as Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburgs. Architecturally, Vienna is still characterized today primarily by the buildings around the Vienna Ringstrasse, but also by Baroque and Art Nouveau.
